Pursu Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 6, 2026 · Last Updated: March 15, 2026
How Pursu Handles Your Data
Pursu is a career coaching platform powered by AI. When you use Pursu, you share personal information about your career, goals, and circumstances. We take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have — in straightforward language.
What We Collect
Account Information
- Name and email address — provided at signup
- Password — stored securely (hashed, never readable by anyone — including us)
Career Information You Share in Conversations
During onboarding and coaching sessions, you share information about your career — your goals, experience, strengths, challenges, and circumstances. This may include sensitive personal details like health situations, family responsibilities, or financial context.
How we handle sensitive details: When you share sensitive personal information (health conditions, financial details, family medical information), we automatically abstract it before storing it. For example, a specific health detail becomes "health considerations" in our working data. The original phrasing exists in your conversation transcript, but the career insights your specialists work from contain only the career-relevant implications — not the personal specifics.
Career Insights (Your Notebook)
Your Notebook contains AI-generated career insights synthesized from your conversations — things like your Career Capital assessment, goals, skills inventory, and reflections. This is your career document. You can view and edit it anytime.
Daily Actions & Progress
- Your Daily Three actions (AI-generated each day)
- Which actions you complete, when, and any feedback you provide
- Your engagement patterns and weekly review participation
Session History
- Conversation transcripts with your specialist team
- Session summaries and artifacts (drafts, plans, talking points)
- Which specialists you worked with
Feedback You Provide
- Thumbs up/down on AI responses
- Post-onboarding feedback
- Any other feedback shared during conversations
Technical Data
- Page views and performance metrics (via Vercel Analytics)
- No cookies beyond what's required for authentication
How We Use Your Data
To Coach You
Your career information powers your AI specialist team. When a specialist responds to you, they draw on:
- Your Career Capital assessment and Notebook entries
- Recent conversation history (a relevant window, not your entire transcript)
- Your current Daily Three tasks and completion patterns
- Your career phase and motivation style
This context is what makes coaching personalized rather than generic.
To Generate Your Daily Three
Each day, we use your career profile, notebook context, and completion history to generate three personalized actions. This runs automatically via a scheduled process.
To Send You Emails
- Daily email with your three actions for the day (morning, based on your timezone preference)
- Weekly review email summarizing your progress
We send from hello@pursu.ai via Resend (our email delivery provider).
To Understand and Improve the Product
We may review how the product is being used — including conversation patterns and session activity — to understand what's working well and where the experience can improve. This helps us make the coaching better for everyone. We look at aggregate trends wherever possible, but during alpha we may also look at individual sessions to diagnose issues or improve AI quality.
Who Processes Your Data
To deliver Pursu's experience, your data is processed by a small number of trusted services:
| Service | What They Handle | Their Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude AI) | Conversation responses, career insights, specialist routing | anthropic.com/privacy |
| Supabase | Database storage, authentication, security | supabase.com/privacy |
| Resend | Email delivery | resend.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Vercel | App hosting, page view analytics, performance metrics | vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy |
AI and Your Data
Pursu uses Anthropic's Claude AI via their API. Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train their models. Your conversations are processed to generate responses and are not retained by Anthropic for training purposes. You can read more about this in Anthropic's data policy.
Your Data Security
- Encryption in transit: All data is transmitted over HTTPS
- Row-level security: Your data is isolated at the database level — no other user can access your information
- Password security: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard methods and are never stored in readable form
- Authenticated access: Every request verifies your identity before processing
- Sensitive data abstraction: Health, financial, and family medical details are automatically redacted from working data (see "How we handle sensitive details" above)
Your Rights and Controls
View Your Data
Your Notebook shows your synthesized career insights. Your session history shows past conversations. You can access both anytime from the app.
Edit Your Insights
Your Notebook is fully editable. If an AI-generated insight doesn't feel right, change it — your edits become what the specialists work from going forward.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account from Settings. This permanently removes:
- Your profile and account information
- All conversation transcripts
- Your Notebook and Career Capital data
- All Daily Three history and session records
- All feedback you've provided
Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. We do not retain your data after deletion.
Data Export
Data export is not yet available. We plan to add this before broader launch.
For Users in the UK, EU, Canada, and Australia
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (such as UK GDPR, Canada's PIPEDA, or Australia's Privacy Act). These include:
- Right of access — You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — You can ask us to correct inaccurate data (you can also edit your Notebook directly).
- Right to erasure — You can request deletion of your data (or delete your account directly from Settings).
- Right to restrict processing — You can ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — You can request your data in a portable format (we'll support this before broader launch).
- Right to object — You can object to certain uses of your data, including processing for product improvement.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@pursu.ai. We'll respond within 30 days.
Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR / EU GDPR): We process your data based on your consent (provided at signup) and our legitimate interest in delivering and improving the coaching service. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We don't use your data for AI training. Neither we nor Anthropic use your conversations to train AI models.
- We don't share individual data with other users. There are no social or community features in the alpha.
- We don't track you across other websites. No third-party tracking pixels or cross-site cookies.
Alpha-Specific Notes
Pursu is currently in alpha with a small group of invited users. A few things to know:
- We're a small team. The Pursu team has the ability to access session data to understand how the product is being used and to improve the experience. We treat your data with care and access it only when it helps us make the product better.
- Things will evolve. This policy will be updated as the product grows. We'll let you know when anything meaningful changes.
- We're here if you have questions. If anything about your data feels unclear, just reach out — we're happy to talk through it.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. We do not currently auto-delete old conversations or session history. When you delete your account, all data is permanently removed (see "Delete Your Account" above).
International Data Transfers
Pursu's services are hosted in the United States. If you're using Pursu from outside the US (including the UK, Canada, or Australia), your data is transferred to and processed in the US. By using Pursu, you consent to this transfer. We protect your data using the security measures described in this policy regardless of where you're located.
